Anne Boleyn

There is very little that is known about Anne Boleyn's early life. She is believed to have been born somewhere between 1500 and 1509. Anne spent some part of her childhood living in the court of the Archduchess Margaret. Later she was moved to the house of Mary, Henry the VIII's sister. She lived in France for several years. It is believed that during this time she might have attended a meeting between Henry VIII and the kind of France, . In 1521 Anne returned to England to prepare for her upcoming marriage. The marriage fell though and she began having affairs with Henry Percy and Sir Thomas Wyatt. It is unknown exactly when Henry VIII first noticed Anne, but when he did he decided he wanted her as his mistress. Anne refused to be sexually involved with the King because they were not married. In 1527, the King wanted to annul his marriage to his wife Catherine so that he could marry Anne. This Annulment process took some time and Anne started to become impatient because she was afraid that Henry would decide to stay with Catherine. Henry continued to spoil Anne by giving her titles and gifts. On September 1, 1532 she was named Marquess of Pembroke.

Sometime soon after Anne decided to sleep with Henry and became pregnant. Even though the King's marriage to Catherine had not been officially annulled, the King and Anne secretly wed. It was believed that Anne was going to be giving birth to a son, but on September 7, 1533 she gave birth to a daughter who was named Elizabeth. Anne knew how important it was to provide the king with a son. She became pregnant two more times and miscarried both times. Anne was afraid that she was going to fall out of favor with Henry who had started paying attention to Jane Seymour.

On May 2, 1536 Anne was arrested and charged with the following:

• Adultery
• Incest
• Plotting to kill Henry

On May 15th Anne had her trial and denied all the charges, but was still found guilty. On May 19th, Anne was executed by beheading.
