Slavery Laws research papers show that slavery in the United States began as an industry to provide workers for the country's booming agricultural centers. However, this industry of evil grew to effect American social fabric to this day. Even after slavery, African Americans are subject to the racism created by the legal and social traditions spawned under slavery. These societal tools, mostly created in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, have left a legacy of divided society that haunts America to this day.

African Americans have been treated by American society as inferior directly because of Slavery Laws legacy. In America, almost all Africans were slaves and almost all slaves were Africans. The Slavery Laws designed to keep slaves in bondage also served to link slavery with skin color. Two main areas of Slavery Laws spawned this concept: those laws prohibiting inter-racial miscegenation and those laws subjecting all African Americans to legal and civil disability. In many states, including Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia and South Carolina, intimacy between black and white races was forbidden through legislature. In 1725, Pennsylvania Slavery Laws declared free Negroes "idle, slothful people" and provided servitude for those who "misspent" their time. These Slavery Laws firmly established African Americans as an inferior in American society, not to be mixed with or to be allowed equality under law.
