Description of Educational Background:
Part One of the DDP provides an opportunity to review and reflect upon the diversity of educational experiences that have brought you to this point in your career. Within this section offer a brief, one-paragraph personal introduction .Describe the formal and informal learning experiences that comprise your educational background, including individual knowledge, skills, and accomplishments. Describe your involvement with and access to learning and teaching environments. Address the academic and research proficiency you bring to the program and areas you wish to improve while pursuing your doctoral studies. Provide a personal evaluation of your readiness to engage in research and a doctoral exit project.
Note: Each of the above areas may be condensed to form subheadings in your narrative.
Description of Personal Professional Goals and Plans for Residency:
Part Two: You will examine your personal and professional goals and their relationship to Walden's mission and the attainment of a doctoral degree. Pay careful attention to how you cite your goals. This section will provide direction for your Doctoral Study and assist the Faculty Chair in determining the best possible mentor for your goals. If the academic interests and selected field of study [Education Leadership] are not addressed, the DDP will be considered incomplete and not acceptable.
Within this section:
- State your personal and professional goals.
- Articulate how these goals intersect with your academic interests and selected field of study.
- Reflect upon Walden's mission and articulate how you will apply this mission by making a contribution to the field of education .Discuss how specialized learning and the attainment of a doctoral degree will help you meet your personal and professional goals.
- Describe your plans for your residencies and explain how they connect to your professional goals .In anticipation of completing your Doctoral Study within three of beginning the program, introduce your PASS [Personalized Advanced Scholarly Study] and explain why it is important to you and the field of education. Begin to address types of questions that would initiate your inquiry. Integrate your your two-page comparison /contrast or synthesis into your description of your PASS, and why your pursing this study will be important to the field of education.
- Include your individual plans for completing the required residencies, including a time line for your residency attendance. You will attend one residency a year during the program.
