Law of Attraction

Religion and philosophy courses in college often study belief systems of groups. You may be required to write a research paper on the Law of Attraction, a popular movement during the transcendentalist era that experienced a resurgence through the book The Secret by Rhonda Burns. If you need help writing a research paper on the Law of Attraction, Paper Masters will show you how.
The Law of Attraction is a popular belief, emerging out of the New Thought Movement, that like attracts like and that an individual's thought process can transform your life and, ultimately, the world.
The Law of Attraction believes the following:
- Like attracts like
- Sending positive vibrations leads to positive experiences
- Positive energy makes everyone around it feel good
- Visualization brings thoughts to reality
There is no scientific basis for the law of attraction. The New Thought Movement was popular in the 19th and early 20th century, popularized by Napoleon Hill's 1937 book, Think and Grow Rich.
Law of Attraction and Thoughts
Proponents of the law of attraction maintain that a person's thoughts will manifest themselves in their reality. A large part of the law of attraction is the belief in the concept of subjective reality. Subjective reality maintains that there is only one consciousness in the universe, that of the individuals. Under subjective reality, everyone and everything is a projection from the self.
The law of attraction has gained notoriety in recent years thanks to the 2006 film The Secret. The film presented several interviews in which it was proposed that anyone can satisfy their wants and desires by thinking about a situation repeatedly and maintaining a positive mental state in order to make it a reality.
Law of Attraction and Science
Scientists and skeptics have been hostile to the law of attraction, maintaining that there is no scientific basis for its belief and that it mischaracterizes the electrical activity in the brain. However, no less a popular authority than Oprah Winfrey devoted two episodes of her show to the law of attraction.
