Christianity developed out of Judaism as the promised Messiah came to earth. The Christian religion is founded on Jesus Christ who walked the earth as the Son of God and God Himself. Within the religion there are what the church refers to as the sacraments to the believer. The sacraments are defined as outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace. They include baptism, Holy Communion, penance, confirmation, anointing of the sick and laying of hands, Christian marriage, and ordination. Christians are expected and critiqued according to the presence of the sacraments in his life.
Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ, considered the Son of God by all mainstream Christian denominations. Christians can trace their founding date“ within a year or so“ to the crucifixion of Jesus and his subsequent resurrection in about the year 33 AD. While Christianity grew from Judaism, it is (and was from its very first day) a separate and distinct faith practice. It had just one founder, Jesus, and no prior roots, though many of its past and current practices are based on Jewish faith practices.
While Jesus founded just one Church, the centuries have seen schisms that resulted in breakaway sects, such as the Eastern Orthodox Church in the 5th or 6th century, as well as the founding of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century , led by former Roman Catholic, Martin Luther . Nonetheless, all Christian churches and sects accept Christ as the founder of Christianity, regardless of whatever other beliefs they have adopted.
