The Book of Titus, in the Bible, was written by the Apostle Paul. It is believed to be a letter to Titus, his brother, who had ventured out to the island of Crete to oversee one of the churches Paul had established there. Paul wrote the letter to remind his brother to remain encouraged and led by faith as it pertained to governing the church. Paul understood the importance of authentic leaders in the church so as Titus sought individuals to fill those roles, Paul advised him to utilize caution. In doing so, he enlightened his brother on the reputations of various individuals on the island so that Titus could make informed decisions before making selections. After all, everyone was not as pure in heart as they professed to be. Ultimately, Paul wanted to give his brother all of the tools required to successfully maintain what he had established, the ministry.
