Rehabilitation counselors can work on a one-on-one basis with a client or within a group setting; their initial objective is to do the following:
- Evaluate the patient's abilities, interests, and goals
- Develop a short- or long-term plan of action to address the client's needs.
- Aid patients in acquiring the services they need, ranging from employment training to medical care.
- Rehabilitation counselors work with employers to ensure appropriate accommodations are made to produce the best possible results for both patient and employment provider.
