Carl Jung, 1875-1961, was a Swedish psychiatrist and psychotherapist. He is known as the father of analytical psychology. He was the first person to create theories about the differences in personality between introverted and extroverted people. The Life of Carl Jung

Carl Jung did not intend to spend his life practicing psychiatry, but he had such an interest in it that he realized it was the occupation he should have. In 1895, Jung began his medical studies. He began his medical career in 1900 when he began working in a psychiatric hospital in Zurich. He then spent the next few years publishing his dissertation and other studies. Jung was drafted as an army doctor during World War I. In 1903, he married Emma Rauschenbach, and together they had five children. In 1907, Jung met Sigmund Freud and they began collaborating together six months later. Their collaboration lasted about six years. During his career, Jung traveled and did seminars in London, East Africa, India, and the United States twice. While in India, he became ill and spent two weeks in a Calcutta hospital.
