Intro To Psychology

One of the more interesting courses that a university student can, or may have to, take is Intro to Psychology. Offered at nearly every college or university, an intro to psychology class will teach the student about the mind, human behavior and the underlying motivations behind it all. As this is an introductory course, a wide variety of topics current in the field of psychology will be covered.
Psychology is the study of behavior and the mind, exploring concepts such as the following:
- Perception
- Cognition
- Motivation
- Emotion
- Attention
- Personality
- Behavior
An intro to psychology class will cover both the physical aspects of the science, such as experiments designed to understand behavior, as well as the more intangible aspects, such as the leading theories of human development. After taking an intro to psychology class, a student should be familiar with a wide range of theories, from Freud, Jung, and Skinner, to the concepts that are often bandied about in conversation, such as ego, the unconscious mind, or operant conditioning.
At the university level, an Intro to Psychology class will generally consist of a series of lectures delivered by a professor. Of course, each professor has his or her own style, meaning that some professors may require weekly quizzes, while others may rely solely on a midterm and a final test, and perhaps even a term paper.
