HPV research papers are written by medical health professionals at Paper Masters. The human papillomavirus can be explicated when you custom order research. Below is a sample of how our writers suggest you format your HPV research papers.

The Human papillomavirus, also known as HPV, is a common sexually transmitted disease that is known to significantly increase an individual's risk for developing cervical cancer. There are more than 100 different strains of HPV, 30 of which affect the genital area. There is currently no cure for HPV infections. Frequently individuals infected with HPV will not experience any symptoms. A woman may be infected with HPV and not realize it until she receives an abnormal Pap test at her annual gynecological exam. Aside from increasing an individual's risk for cervical cancer, HPV can lead to cancer of the vulva, vagina, anus, and penis, as well as genital warts.

The HPV Research Paper should address in narrative form the following areas:

  1. Introduction
    1. Introduction to your paper should include an overview and purpose statement.
    2. Discuss reason for choice of the topic.
    3. Discuss the effect of the topic on the client and family. Be specific in how this topic/problem effects the client and family.
    4. Identify the social (class), economic, gender, environmental, political, ethical, cultural (ethnic, race) or legal issue that impact the delivery of care. At least three of these issues need to be addressed in the introduction.

Literature Review on HPV

II. Literature Review

  1. Perform an in-depth search of the literature relative to the topic.
  2. Explain the major findings of the literature review, analyze those findings for currency, applicability, and common or contradictory information.
  3. Present the literature review in an organized manner.

III. Implications for Health and Nursing Care

  1. Clearly state the identified problem area or issues.
  2. Clearly describe how the area/issue impacts the client, family, community, and society.
  3. From the literature review, discuss at least 3 nursing diagnoses and how they will be applied to the clinical setting (interventions).
  4. List the evaluative criteria (expected outcomes with methods to evaluate), which would indicate successful outcomes for the client, family, community, and society where applicable.

IV. Writing Skills

  1. Use appropriate literature citations throughout the body of the paper to support your statements.

HPV is spread through genital to genital contact. However, HPV is not transmitted through an exchange of bodily fluid. Rather, it is transmitted through the skin. Condoms do not sufficiently protect against the spread of HPV because they do not cover the entire genital region.

HPV is believed to be responsible for most cases of cervical cancer. The longer a woman has the virus, the more likely it is that abnormal cells will develop on the surface of the cervix. This is why it is vitally important for all women who are sexually active to have an annual gynecological exam and pap smear to check for the presence of abnormal cells.

When a woman contracts HPV, her immune system either rids the body of the infection, or the virus remains in her system for years. While inhabiting her body the virus causes cells on the cervix to mutate. First the cells exhibit symptoms of a viral infection. In the next stage, cells appear precancerous. Untreated, the cells eventually transform into cancer.

The best way to guard against cervical cancer is to avoid contracting HPV. Certain factors increase an individual's risk of contracting the STD. Having a large number of sexual partners, sexual activity prior to age eighteen, previous history of STDs, cigarette smoking, and a weak immune system all place women at a greater risk of contracting HPV. The only way to fully avoid the risk of contracting HPV is to practice abstinence, since condoms are not fully effective in preventing the spread of the virus.

Women who wish to be tested for HPV can request a HPV DNA test. This test can determine if an individual is infected with a strain of HPV that is known to cause cervical cancer. Currently there is no cure for HPV. However, the abnormal cells that HPV causes can be treated. The best way to guard against cervical cancer is to attend annual gynecological exams beginning within three years of becoming sexually active or at age twenty-one, whichever comes first. Women should continue having regular Pap tests until age 70, according to current medical recommendations. If a woman is aware of having HPV or has had abnormal cell growth in the cervix area, she should have Pap tests more than once a year in order to closely monitor the situation.
