The play revolves around two men-Vladimir and Estragon-waiting by a tree on a country road for a man named Godot. Soon, Lucky and Pozzo, slave and master, appear and the two men mistake Pozzo for Godot. After interacting with the two, Pozzo and Lucky depart and a boy arrives to tell the men that Godot will not arrive that night, but tomorrow. Act two opens the next day, with Vladimir and Estragon again waiting by the tree. Godot never arrives.
