This is the love story between Henry, a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to travel through time, and Clare his wife and the inspiration for the title.

It could be argued that having a time traveler for a husband would present difficulties. Because he cannot control the moments when he goes on a time journey, there is an excellent chance that he will not be present for major moments in life. It would be difficult to get to know him because he is always moving through time in the middle of a conversation. However, in this story, it is the very fact that Henry is a time traveler that makes it so easy for Clare to love him.

In fact Henry's time travel makes him the man who will never leave Clare. He visits her during her childhood allowing her to get to know and trust him. He visits her in his present day and he visits her in the future. Because Henry is a time traveler, he never truly leaves Clare even after his death. Because of this, Henry's time traveling condition actually makes him the perfect life partner.
